This is absolutely one of my favorite novels by Marissa Meyer. I’ve read it twice so far and won’t hesitate to pick it up again.
This is not your average fairytale with a happily ever after, but it’s so so good. It’s an origin story of the Queen of Hearts and it is a heartbreaking story of how she became the Queen of Hearts. You really can’t imagine her when you get to know her at first, but once the story progresses, you see why she is who she ended up to be.
She manages to make the fairytale original without the expected outcomes and why does stuff happen like this. You really want her to succeed in her dreams and get your heart crushed alongside hers when it doesn’t.
I really don’t want to spoil anything for you to read, but if you like a story that is really good, but doesn’t necessarily come with a happy ending, then this is your go to. It is amazeballs.
