I was finally able to read the second book in the series, which now has a beautiful spot between the rest of my books! Yay for birthdays! Wishlist fulfilment!

We get to know Scarlet. At first I was confused what had happened to Cinder, but eventually everything became clear in the end. The story clearly shows that the worldbuilding is pretty much done in the world of Cinder and Scarlet, so characterbuilding for the win!  

The story is catchy, intriguing and I really love the way Marissa builds this world and how it works. Where you only know Cinder in "Cinder", you really feel there is more too it than it seems in this novel.

It's fun, it's exciting, it's excruciating, it's marvellous. We meet Wolf, start to care for the grandmère of Scarlet and the whole story just simply captivated me. Marissa's version of little Red Riding Hood is amazing. I just loved it. 

For every fairytale lover, this series is just a must read. 

A Court of Frost and Starlight - Sarah J. Maas

I was still reading Acowar when the newest book to my collection came in. Pre-ordered ofcourse, though it had some delay. And I know it is a sequel/prequel but dang, I wished the book was bigger. This wasn't enough, lol. 

We see what happens after the War, how everyone copes and not copes with the shit that happened and happens. And that is great to read. To see what that shit does to people.

The previous books sometimes had scenes that were written from a different point of view in the story, and I liked that. Acofas is different. Like almost every chapter has been told from the point of view from someone else and that needed some adjusting from my side. But still, it was rather enjoyable and I really can't wait to read the next book!

A Court of Wings and Ruin - Sarah J. Maas

It took me way to long to read this one, but life caught up on me, so I really didn't have much time left to read while my nose was stuck in schoolbooks. But I finally did it! For the second time, lol. 

I just love the way Feyres world works. I loved the part where we got to know the other High Lords better, and everyone and everything else. This book is definitely longer than the previous two, so it has some much story to it. Political parts as well which made me yawn a bit, honestly, but hey, it's part of everything that happens. 

Tears were shed the first time I read it, luckily it didnt this time or it would have been awkward seeing me all soggy over a book in the train amidst unknowing passengers. 

It gave me chills, and heartbreak, and relief, and joy to see everything unfurl. Sarah managed to captivate me once mere even when I already read the book. 

And now I can finally start reading in the sequel/prequel: A Court of Frost and Starglight! It came yesterday with the mail(finally!) after being delayed a few days. (gah!)

A Court of Mist and Fury - Sarah J. Maas

Second up! A Court of Mist and Fury. Took me a little longer to read this one, since it contains a lot more pages than part one and my life was catching up on me. But nonetheless, I've finished this one! One more to go before the release of "A Court of Frost and Starlight!" Oh yes, I am excited. And yes, I have preordered it already. 

I can simply say that I loved this book even more than the first one. I already totally shipped Rhys and Feyre, I really dislike Tamlin for all sorts of reasons. The story itself contains more history, more schemes and plans that go way above your head. Whereas the first book was a story on itself, the second one sweeps you up in even more intrigue and drama. We get to know Mor, Cassian, Azriel and Amren and you just feel the warmth of that particular family leaking into you. Amarantha broke Feyre quite litteral, but through the story, she heales again.

I just loved the parts where Feyre gets to know herself better and she masters everything that comes across her path.
Sarah J. Maas keeps you intrigued in the story with sometimes a few scenes that can get a little ermm.. Hot? It's up to you if that is to your liking or not. 

And as always, her style of writing is captivating and rich. It's the third time I have read this one and I'm still not bored!

It's not a hard guess what my next review will be...

A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J. Maas

This is one of my favorite books at this time. The first book in an amazing trilogy. I even own it as a paperback instead of reading it on my e-reader, so it can occupy a lovely spot in my bookcase. This is the third time that I've read it and I keep falling in love with the story. Seeing more and more details since I know what is going to happen after this book. I've also read the two upfollowing books and it still doesn't bore me! Those too are present in my bookcase!

This is not your average Beauty and the Beast story. It is lovely, wonderful, indefinitely rich to read and behelds more than you might think when you read it for the first time. Luckily my mind is quite forgettable, so I don't mind reading a book over and over. You can feel the despair of Feyres world before everything happens. You can feel so many emotions throughout the story and I wished I could paint. It sounds amazing to be able to see the world like that. And it only gets better.

Sarah takes you with her in this amazing world filled with faeries, Fae and fantasy. She paints the picture in your head for you without little effort. And after reading it the first time I was flabbergasted about what happened and overjoyed how it ended. Now, after reading it for the third time I am only curious to read further, in spite of having read the second book already twice. It's intriguing to see how many layers Sarah has woven into the world and the story of Feyre. There is so much richness to it. I kinda recognised myself more in her sister Nesta, cold and calculating at times, but there is enough to recognise in Feyre to live with her in her world. Beastly Tamlin is really fantastic and too good to be true for a High Lord that it pains me to know how the story goes. Riddles, riddles, riddles. It is so much better to read it, then for me to tell it.

I know which book I'm reading next, and I've got some catching up to do since the novella "A Court of Frost and Starlight" is coming up on the 1st of May, which will function as a sequel to the current storyline and a prequel to what is coming. I can't wait!

A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle

Well, that was rather enjoyable. This book is a bit of a golden oldie, but nevertheless I was intrigued to give it a chance, especially since a movie adaptation is due in our theaters in April. I rather enjoy reading a book first before seeing the movie, because you understand so much more of what's going on and what is at stake. I had never heard of this book before, in spite of the fact that it is quite popular overseas in the States. 

Whilst reading A Wrinkle in Time I definitely noticed that the language that is used is a bit more older than what I am used to in my reading. And that is proper fun. To think of the fact that this book was published in 1962 and in what kind of time that was, this is rather amazing for sciencefiction/fantasy writing back in those days. My mind immidiately pictured the house of the Murry's as an old, sixties style kind of house. 

The readingstyle is pleasant, not too hasty and I could definitely see why it was intended as a childrens book. Through it certainly applies for adults. Just look at Harry Potter. Totally intended as a childrens story, but it's magic captivated adults. And that is what A Wrinkle in Time does as well, though less complicated then Harry Potter. The story is simpler, adorable and yet you spy several deeper layers whilst reading. More meaning to the story than it first meets the eye. 

I recognised myself a little in Meg, though I am a bit more rational than Meg is, less stubborn in my own ways. I saw something recognisable. And to be honest. It felt like there was more to the story. I think Madeleine could've easily packed more facts and explanations into the story to make it even more richer, but ofcourse it is still a childrens book after all. 

I've got the other three books already lined up! Curiosity for more at least!

Ready Player One - Ernest Cline

How come I've never heard of this book before? It is ah-ma-zing! My interest was piqued when I read some very enthusiastic responses in one of the Facebook groups I'm in. And I am ever so grateful for that bunch of geeky girls to point me towards this amazing book. Have I told you that it is amazing? I have literally squeeled with joy to read so many references of geekery and gaming in one book. I was overjoyed and so sad when it ended. I just LOVED reading it!

I'm a huge geek and gamer myself, so naturally I submerged myself quite quickly in the wonderful world of the OASIS. So many recognisable perks and quirks for a geeky gamer like me. I'm just old enough to understand most of the 80's references the book is packed with, due to parents who brought their youth into raising me. 

If you love geeky stuff, if you love gaming and if you have a certain affinity with the 80's, I'd say this is definitely worth a read. It is filled to the brim with references. I have laughed so hard at certain situations. Some things were so recognisable. I even knew certain passages out of the top of my head! The story really speaks to you, even if it takes place in the future. Ah, if the OASIS was already here. I'm still stuck with my 2D monitor and crude mouse and keyboard. Lol.

And can you imagine my excitement when I discovered there is going to be a movie? I usually am quite skeptical with book to movie adaptations, but this just has  the basics to be something awesome. At the end of March we can submerge ourselves into the story of geeks and gamers on the big screen. But for now, I am having this huge smile on my face for reading something that awesome!
